Presenting the Google Summer of Code 2009 "work complete" snapshot!

http://www.libsdl.org/tmp/SDL-GSoC-2009.zip

The Google Summer of Code is a program sponsored by Google getting
talented students and open source projects together. You can find out
more about the Google Summer of Code program at
http://socghop.appspot.com/

This year three students spent their summer adding functionality to SDL 1.3:
* Edgar "bobbens" Simo created a suite of automated tests to help find
bugs and verify new ports of SDL.
* Martin Lowinski ported SDL to Linux on the PS3, adding SPE support
for accelerated movie playback.
* Jiang Jiang added IME support for asian language input on Mac OS X.

I want to thank all of these students for the excellent work they contributed!

Please feel free to download the snapshot and check out their work!
If you run into any bugs, please enter them in the SDL bug tracking
system at http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/
If you have any questions, please ask on the mailing list or the
forums at http://forums.libsdl.org/

More information on the changes can be found on the SDL GSoC 2009 page:
http://www.libsdl.org/gsoc.php

Enjoy!

hello! I'm a french student, and I'm interested by Gsoc 2010. I saw last year that you were present and I would like to know if you will do it again this year?

We applied as a mentoring organization, and we'll know in a few weeks whether we were accepted.

Here are some links to whet your appetite in the meantime though. Smile

Because we've had applicants with widely varying skill levels, this
year I'm asking all prospective applicants to submit a sample patch
for SDL 1.3. It doesn't have to be big or even accepted, but it does
have to show familiarity with the development process and good coding
practices.

See ya!
